The Hungarian manufacturer AlbertModell has announced a new model of the Končar electric locomotive—known locally as the ASEA. In the 1960s, this locomotive was selected as the standard model for the territory of the former joint state. The four-axle locomotive is designed for 25 kV AC power supply, with a rated power output of between 3,400 and 4,000 kW. This type of locomotive remains in use today across all the countries of the former Yugoslavia, with the exception of Slovenia, where a 3,000 V DC system is used. The highly detailed model is powered by a robust 5-pole motor. One wheel on the bogie is fitted with a traction tire to improve power transmission. The locomotive is capable of navigating a 360 mm radius curve and utilises a close-coupling mechanism for connecting to wagons. Locomotive 040001 is particularly suitable for hauling trains such as the ACME Sava or ACME JŽ Mimara. The models are available in analog versions or with a -installed ESU LokSound 5 digital sound decoder. The estimated price for the locomotives marked with an asterisk is €225 (VAT included), while the digital version will cost approximately €100 more.
